Washcare Instructions

Keep your LIVINGHUG sheets soft, comfortable, and long-lasting with these simple care tips. Because quality bedding deserves quality care.

The Complete Care Guide

Follow these proven methods to keep your sheets feeling like new, wash after wash. We've tested these steps with Indian water conditions and washing machines.

  • First Few Wash Separately

Cotton tends to fade more color as compared to polyester, so put a tea spoon of salt in water and dip for half an hour separately. Salt will prevent the dyes in colored fabrics from bleeding. This method works especially well on new clothes. Salt can also help restore once-vivid colors in the fading fabrics.

💡 Pro Tip: Always separate new colored bedsheets for the first 2-3 washes

  • Dark Colors to be Wash Separately

Anyone who has ever accidentally washed a red sock with the whites, knows the importance of this step. Washing like colors together prevents the light color from fading.

"Keep darks with darks, lights with lights - simple rule that saves your sheets"

  • Dry Up Side Down

Prevent colorful bedsheets from turning drab by flipping them inside out before tossing them up in hanger. It will make your colored clothes more vivid in the long run.

"Inside-out drying keeps colors vibrant for years"

  • Cold Machine Wash

Double score! Using cold water is better for your clothes and environment. Set your machine to 30°C or below for best results.

"Cold water = longer lasting sheets + lower electricity bills"

  • Do Not Use Strong Detergent

Strong detergents harm the fiber from the inside and make it weak. We have a false thought that using more detergent will clean the fabric faster.

"Less is more - use gentle, natural detergents for cotton care"

  • Do Not Bleach

The harsh fumes from chlorine are dangerous to inhale and can lead to serious respiratory issues over time. The chemical residue also remains on clothing, towels, sheets and cloth diapers. These fabrics rub against our bodies and can cause rashes and irritation for those with sensitive skin.

"Natural alternatives like lemon juice work better and safer."

  • Do Not Tumble Dry

Cotton is a natural fiber and tumble drying will give you more wrinkle effect, which then needs to be flattened by ironing.

"Air dry in shade for best results - your sheets will thank you."

  • Do Not Iron on Prints

Ironing a printed cotton bed sheet will fade away colors in the long run. If you must iron, do it on the reverse side on low heat.

"Printed sheets look better with natural texture anyway."

Care Questions & Answers

  • How often should I wash my bedsheets?

Weekly washing is ideal for hygiene and fabric longevity. In hot, humid weather or if you sweat at night, consider washing every 4-5 days. Our sheets are designed to handle frequent washing while maintaining softness.

  • Can I use regular detergent with LIVINGHUG sheets?

Yes, but choose mild, eco-friendly detergents without harsh chemicals or optical brighteners. Avoid detergents with bleach or fabric softeners built in. Natural alternatives work best for cotton care.

  • My sheets feel rough after washing. What went wrong?

This usually happens from using too much detergent, hot water, or over-drying. Try rewashing with less detergent in cold water, and add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to restore softness naturally.

  • How do I remove stains without damaging the fabric?

Act quickly with cold water and gentle soap. For tougher stains, make a paste with baking soda and water, let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash normally. Avoid bleach or harsh stain removers that can damage cotton fibers.
